Light and form through portraiture with kevin müller cisneros
fRiday - Sunday, November 20 - 22 // $450
This course will guide participants through the development of a portrait drawing from a live model. Participants will be introduced to fundamental concepts of depicting light and form through the use of graphite and white chalk over toned paper. This emphasis on tonal values will underpin the subsequent exploration of three dimensional volume. The goal will be to capture the cranial structure and likeness of the model as well as a convincing light effect. As the class expands into the rendering of form, there will be careful consideration from optical impression to engage our visual perception with drawing in a sculptural sense.
Each day Kevin will demonstrate the methodology behind constructing an anatomically correct head and the progression from a simplified envelope to a complex block-in of the subject.
Toned paper will be provided in the class.
